Beyond The Boxscore -- Susan Sontag

Periodically on the blog, we'll have some of our student-athletes answer a few questions that you won't find answers to in their bio. Our first student-athlete to take the plunge and answer questions is senior softball player Susan Sontag.
-----
What is your favorite moment in your athletic career? My entire freshman year was unforgettable-- we had a team that surpassed everyone's expectations and shattered the record books in various categories.

Who is your biggest idol? My older brother, Ryan, who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Former Detroit Tiger outfielder Curtis Granderson comes in a close second!

If you could have any profession in the world, what would it be and why? I would own my own architecture firm and design athletic arenas and stadiums. I would be able to combine two of my passions in life.

What is your favorite childhood memory? Spending my summers playing sandlot baseball with my brothers and closest childhood friends.

If you could be friends with anyone in the world, who would it be and why? The President... if I ever needed bailed out of a situation I would know who to call!

If you could pick one place to call home, where would it be and why? I would love to live in Rome, Italy. I studied abroad last summer and fell in love with the city.

What do you love the most about BGSU? I love the people I have met and the experiences I have shared with my closest friends and teammates.

If you could play any other sport other than you are playing here, what would it be and why? I would play volleyball--hands down. I would love to play for Coach Van De Walle and I was also very competitive in volleyball in high school.

What are three items you can’t live without? My yellow Easton stealth bat, my computer, and my iPod.

What is your favorite song from all times? I have too many favorite songs. Right now its Highway 20 Ride by the Zac Brown Band.

What is your favorite game that you’ve played in your career? My sophomore year when we played Michigan State. I had a walk off hit to win the game.

What is a fun fact about you that not many people know? I don't have pinky toenails.

If you could be someone else for one day, who would it be and why? Jenna Dewan. She is Channing Tatum's wife... enough said.

What would be your dream vacation? Traveling through Italy.

What is your biggest life aspiration? I aspire to open my own architecture firm one day. Ultimately if I find success in my profession, I would love to give back to Bowling Green by designing and building a new softball stadium.

What are three goals you have for yourself in the next year? I hope to be accepted into my grad school of choice and find a part time job in an architecture firm. I also want to take more time to slow down and relax, since I will be done playing softball.
